Rep. Watson Coleman Condemns the House Passage of TrumpCare

"How callous and out of touch do House Republicans have to be to celebrate stripping health care from more than 24 million Americans?”

WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) issued the following statement on the House passage of TrumpCare:

The premature victory lap at White House is the latest illustration that this President and his backslappers in Congress care more about politics than the wellbeing of the constituents they swore to protect.

While at the White House, House Republicans and the President celebrated the House vote for TrumpCare – an effective slap in the face to millions of men, women and children nationwide. How callous and out of touch do House Republicans have to be to celebrate stripping health care from more than 24 million Americans, and reneging on pledges to protect people with preexisting conditions? Despite pleas from parents of children born with pre-existing conditions, ill patients who received life-saving care, and the hard-working men, women and their children who showed up at town halls nationwide – House Republicans insist on these UnAmerican attacks against them.

This moment makes me sad and angry; I came to Congress to help people, not to harm them. But, I will continue to fight.
